What began a quiet logging town is now the home of worldwide technology giants. Microsoft and Nintendo both planted their headquarters in Redmond in the 1980s, and they have been a dominating force in the city ever since. Their presence quickly accelerated growth in the city — of buildings and people alike. 

Redmond still maintains plenty of green space, parks and trails. It’s centrally located to Seattle, shopping, entertainment, the mountains, the airport, the lake… you name it. With a great school system too, it’s hard to resist planting roots in Redmond. Technology companies have wisely positioned themselves in this convenient location so the people would follow and they did.

With a growing population of tech-savvy folks, Redmond was bound to become a hub for startups. Some have come, some have gone, and more will undoubtedly spring up. However one thing is for sure: Many of the smaller technology firms in Redmond have been touched by some former Microsoft employee along the way.
